During the time that I was researching, Don Quijote's price was the same as Amazon Japan. We saved only a little bit since we bought the display model. So, I can't fully recommend Costco, as it did cost us in transportation to get out there to shop. If it matters, TV delivery from Costco is free.

So, how much did you end up saving on the TV? Although difficult to shop at, Don Quijote (their spelling, not mine) seems to have pretty good prices on TVs compared to bic and yodobashi. But I know I really have to get out to Costco.
thanks for this blog by the way, its excellent

Nice TV choice. I noticed TV were expansive in Shanghai also. The cheapest local brand Hisense was still 1300 for a 42inch LCD. I guess electronics are expansive in Asia due to the fact exports get Tax rebates.

It actually looks like Japan has different policies about their TVs. First of all we got free delivery for only the TV. They'll set it up and take the boxes and packaging with them. If we don't like it, we can call them up and they'll pick it up for as a return, where we pay for the delivery charges back.

Pretty cool. I think the 90 day policy for TV doesn't exist either, so I think we can probably return at anytime.

i love Costco...and I will most likely buy my TV there because for me a big purchase like that feels better with a 90 day return policy and a two year warranty no matter who makes the TV
