Alex & Sophia come to Tokyo

Yay!  More visitors!  Alex & Sophia visited us from the SF Bay Area on their way to Hong Kong …familiar itinerary huh?  They flew into Tokyo and the next day took a shinkansen to Osaka to visit Kyoto and Osaka for a few days.  They returned on Saturday where we met up for a Tokyo food fair in Yoyogi, ramen and Kiddyland in Harajuku, Tokyo shopping mall strolling and Sega Joypolis in Odaiba, ending the night with izakaya in Shibuya.

On Sunday, we went to Shinjuku to a special game shop and visited the Lost in Translation Park Hyatt Tokyo and then to Yokohama to the ramen museum.  Even with mini-ramen bowls (some more mini than others), we were only able to sample 3 of the 9 shops in the museum.

A&S and Henry went to Asakusa and Akihabara on Monday while I went to work.  :(  I’ll let Henry tell you about their adventures there (including the Maid Café).  Tuesday A&S visited Tokyo DisneySea which was fun but VERY crowded apparently.  They hung out and shopped at the Oriental Bazaar and Tokyu Hands on Wednesday and left for Hong Kong on Thursday.  I would hope that we were decent tour guides/food guides.  There was ramen, izakaya with yakitori and donburi, tonkatsu, ramen, all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu (which happened to be the one they used in Lost in Translation), beef bowls, pastries (including Beard Papa’s special “French” pastry), fresh sashimi and grilled fish (including some of the freshest uni any of us have ever tried), sushi and soba, blowfish and did I mention ramen?
