What’s in the vending machine May 2009

In Japan, the vending machines dispense hot and cold drinks.  As with everything in Japan, the products are seasonal.  The hot drinks disappear in the summer and depending on sales and/or the company (Kirin, Suntory, etc), the variety will differ.

Here’s some new times that I haven’t seen in the Kirin machines at work.  The prices are subsidized, so prices are lower than you can find elsewhere.

Yogurt drinks are getting big.  Apparently, I don’t get a discount on that hakko UKON drink but the other drink is cheap.

Kirin has also began selling their line of sports drinks called “Amino Supli”.  That’s some strong competition considering that I only drink Pocari Sweat or Aquarius.  I did buy this bottle of amino supli.  It was not as sweet as Pocari or Aquarius, and also not terribly memborable.  The afternoon tea is quite common, and tastes exactly as it sounds.

I love the Kirin afternoon tea with milk. It almost as good as making your own black tea with milk.
