Summer Tsukemen
It’s summer, and it’s just too hot and humid to eat ramen. I’m actually eating more sushi than before because it’s cooler.
Today, I was just craving some ramen after having watched FoodiesTV last night. So, tsukemen it is. Tsukemen (つけ麺) is deconstructed ramen which is gaining popularity. In the summer, almost all the ramen places are serving tsukemen. Some of them are even blasting their AC colder, which is pretty much a requirement, or else you die of heatstroke if you decided to eat a bowl of hot ramen. Another form of ramen that’s gaining popularity is cold soup ramen.
You may recognize this bowl of ramen, since it comes from one of my favorite places, but it’s tsukemen style. The bowl of rice above was the tamago kake gohan (玉子かけご飯) which is raw egg, bonito flakes and rice. It was my first time trying it, and quite awesome also. I had mixed it up already, so I’ll have to take some before and after pictures next time.
