La Tourelle Dinner
We had dinner with a co-worker of mine and his fiancee. He had also invited another couple, one of whom I had met at a Darden alumni event. The dinner had been planned a month or two in advance at a nice French restaurant (apparently the area, 神楽坂 Kagurazaka, is known for its quaint French restaurants) and no one realized it until we happened upon the main street that there was a neighborhood omatsuri, 阿波踊り festival, taking place that night as well. It was quite a fun and interesting site though with many people in yukatas and vendors on the street and Bon Odori dancing and traditional music.

Dinner was very yummy and included a sampler of ice cream/sorbet – tea (brown tea not green tea), apricot, lime, cherry and strawberry. Henry also tried the kujira (whale) appetizer that looked like beef and almost fooled your mind into thinking it was beef! We also had a palate cleanser of chicken consomme cappuccino style. They also offered everyone a platter of sweets and fruit. We chose the Hokkaido cherry and Chinese lantern fruit along with a cookie.
