Kawagoe (Day and Night)

Kawagoe or Little Edo is about an hour outside of Tokyo.  We went one day to check out the area during the day.  Kawagoe is known for the old style buildings.

We stopped by Kita-in where they were having an opera concert!  Our main reason for checking it out was the 500 stone statues.  They all have different expressions!

And yes, that statue is picking his nose!

The next week we went back to Kawagoe for the Kawagoe Matsuri!  It was one of the best festivals.  I’ll let Henry blog about the festival food.  The floats were awesome and lit up at night.  When different floats meet on the street, there is a sort of “battle of the bands.”  It was quite a unique experience.
