Last Visitors of 2009

We welcomed our final overseas visitors for the year in late December. Unfortunately, Henry had to travel for business to freezing cold Seoul on the same day they landed.  We tried out some kaiten sushi that night and the next day they woke up jet-lag early to check out the Tsukiji fish market. Even though the tuna auction was officially closed to tourists for that period of time (I suspect due to an unfortunate tuna licking incident last year by some baka gaijin) they enjoyed all the incredibly large frozen fish and the hustle and bustle of the market.  I also believe they binged on fresh tuna for breakfast!  We tried the roasted miso ramen for dinner.
After Henry returned on Wednesday which was a Japanese holiday, we toured around the Imperial Palace and Harajuku to see Meiji Dori lit up with Tony and Laura while Ginger hung out with a friend.
We met up with Ginger for all-you-can-eat sukiyaki at a place in Shibuya that had been recommended by a friend.  It was quite an affordable all-you-can-eat feast for about 2000 Yen a person and you could choose, hot pot, sukiyaki or shabu shabu for the table.  We ended the night with ice cream filled cream puffs.
On our last night all together, we tried to re-create the infamous Friends’ Pub incident from Italy.  Going nomihodai (all-you-can-drink) with our 10-course set dinner.  We were quite full by the end of the night (and some of us, quite drunk…I think they heard Tony out in Chiba ) although somehow Tony, Ginger and Henry found room for Sukiya and beef bowls after a trip to Donqui for some costume shopping.  We also had Christmas cake of course! Henry and I left for Vietnam early the next morning with Ginger to follow that evening while Tony and Laura toured around Japan for another week.  As always, it was awesome to see friends from home and have them mule stuff over for us!
